ABOUT PRESIDENTIAL SWEETS
My name is Angela Guevarra and I am an Associate Director/Registered Nurse by day and a self-taught baker by night. Being a nurse is a very rewarding profession but nothing else allows me to express the creativity I have in me and share it with others in the form of a sweet treat like baking does.
The love and passion for baking came to me by accident
If you spent the day with me you would learn that I have a DIY personality. Instead of always purchasing everything ready made I often think oh I can make that myself, whether it be crafts or costumes, for my wedding or Halloween, etc. But I didn't start to bake until I became a mom of two. I love to throw fun, themed parties for my kids and instead of searching for someone to make the cake to match the theme I decided I should try and make them myself. So I became a self-taught baker and cake decorator just to do my own family parties. After a while friends asked me to do their cakes too. I didn't find my calling until I ate my first French Macaron. With my first bite I immediately thought I have to learn how to make these. From that moment Presidential Sweets was to be born.
Why the name Presidential Sweets?
You know those two kids I mentioned earlier? The ones I love to throw parties for? Well, their names just so happen to be Carter and Kennedy. They were not necessarily actually named after the presidents, but it was only fitting. Along with my loving and supportive husband, this is my little dedication to my two little loves -- the only two things sweeter than the treats I make.
